Spice Route Destination, situated on the slopes of the Paarl Mountains in the Western Cape, offers tasting and aesthetic experiences at various establishments located within walking distance of each other. The Destination’s broad-ranging offerings make for a full day’s excursion on foot that often has visitors come back to complete the range of experiences.
The Destination commemorates the Cape’s diverse cultures, the initial gathering of artisans and spice trading, and historical instances that inspired today’s interesting flavour infusions. From chocolate and ice cream making, coffee and beer brewing to glass blowing, and sports activities, the Destination incorporates an extraordinary mix of talent that won’t go unnoticed.
Spice Route’s passport, a pocket-sized booklet that offers the convenience of enjoying a selection of tastings all year, is a perfect way to explore the Destination on foot. The passport is available from the on-site guest liaison office.

Jewells
Recently added to the Destination’s collection of restaurants, is the farm-to-table eatery Jewells, home to Chefs Warehouse maestro Liam Tomlin together with charcuterie whizz Neil Jewell and baker extraordinaire Tina Jewell. As you’d expect, guests can look forward to only the best-quality ingredients, including organic Red Angus beef from Charles Back’s herd, with a regularly updated seasonal menu paired with a wine list comprising of a selection of Spice Route Wines. Guests can now also purchase Neil’s charcuterie at Jowls, situated next to Spice Route Wines underground tasting cellar.
